My Top 3 Ways to Use Crystals Every Day

It's easy to get hold of crystals, it's exciting to learn their names, put them in little storage pouches or boxes, or take fancy pictures, and post onto Instagram or Facebook. But are you actually using your crystals? There's a reason they've made an appearance in your life. I appreciate that it could be aesthetic, to give a talking point by looking lovely and shiny on your mantelpiece or bookshelf. But, what if it's to help you heal in some way? You've purchased the crystal, read up on what it's supposed to do for you, and maybe you're even blown away by the links to your actual life, feelings, and experiences. Well then, put those amazing crystals to use, and allow them to help those areas of your life that they so obviously connect to.

Here are my top three ways to work with crystals. And they're really not complicated!

1. Carry them with you! The simplest method, if they're easy to carry, of course. There's less chance of this method being used if your crystal is a 3ft geode, I accept. But, if you're attracted to some tumbled stones, a little thumbstone, or palmstone, get that beauty in your pocket, your handbag, or your bra. Yes, your bra! They're ideal for tucking little tumbles in and having them close to you all day without rattling when you walk. Just remember to empty your bra of crystals before they all tumble to the floor before bed! Having crystals with you can allow their energy to kick in when you need it most. Choose your crystal first thing on a morning, setting out what it is you feel you may need that day. Maybe you've got a meeting coming up that requires you to stay focused, or as calm as possible. Perhaps you have a doctor's appointment and want to ease your anxiety about it. Or, perhaps you are feeling lethargic and need something to give you an energy boost. Go with what you're drawn to, tuck it somewhere safe, and away you go.

2. Meditate. This one often throws people. It's a common misconception that meditation has to be done in lycra leggings, with a special meditation stool, or cross-legged in lotus, or with some fancy music in the background with a recording of someone guiding you to a wooded forest where fairies play. Meditation is simply the act of focusing on one thing with the intention of becoming calm. Having a crystal with you can actually help with this process if you've found it difficult in the past. Not everyone finds visualisation meditations easy, so, simplify it. Having a physical object (in this case, a crystal) to hold on to, to focus our attention on, can help to bring us to that calm, meditative state more easily. And, the benefit of focusing on a crystal in this way is that it can help us to connect to the healing energies of the gemstone, amplifying their properties. The most important thing is to not be disturbed, and the second most important thing is to be comfortable. I can't concentrate on anything if my back is aching or my leg muscles are screaming from being cross-legged. Sit, lay, blankets, pillows, music, no music, lights, dark room, candles, incense, inside, under a tree - whatever your preference is, do that. Have your chosen crystal to hand, and simply hold it, feeling the texture and shape of it, and be aware of what you feel. Do this for 5 mins, 10 mins or half an hour. However long you can manage. And it'll get easier each time you do it, promise. 3. Chakra balancing. Do it yourself, or let someone else do the work for you! Using crystals to balance the chakras is not only beneficial for the chakra system, which has a knock-on effect on all other aspects of your being, but it is sooo relaxing. It's not as difficult as you may think either. You'll need 7 crystals. You can get colour-based chakra sets, ready-made. These work on the colour vibration of each chakra specifically, and will also offer some other healing properties from the crystals that are commonly used to make these sets up. Or, you can simply choose any 7 crystals in your collection, regardless of colour, and decide (based on how you feel) which chakra to place each of them on. That's right, you can use a blue crystal on your base chakra, and an orange one on your crown chakra if you like. There are no hard and fast rules. This one is best done laying down. It makes it easier to have the crystals on the chakras and eliminates the need for 6 hands or sticky tape! Sit on your bed or the floor. Start by placing a crystal on the base chakra, then lay down and place a crystal on the sacral, followed by the solar plexus, the heart, the throat, third eye, and finally the crown. Just lay back, relax, and allow the crystals to work their magick! You can be there for 5 mins, 10 mins or an hour. However long you have. You'll know when it's time to take the crystals off, and you'll feel amazing for having taken time to just stop and do something for your subtle body. If even this sounds like hard work, book yourself in with a crystal therapist and get them to do the placing. You'll also find there's a lot more than just a chakra balancing can occur during a crystal session. It can be quite eye-opening! There are lots of other ways to use your crystals, of course. And if our ever fancy to learn more, get in touch! Enjoy! Kx
